The AG-17 AGL is designed to defeat manpower and firing assets located outside shelters, in open trenches and behind natural obstacles (ravine, gully, mountainside etc).

The AG-17 weapon system uses VOG-17M fragmentation rounds with a non-delay point fuse detonating on impact. The weapon is fed from a box-stowed metal link belt. The belt can be delivered from both right and left sides. The weapon features quick-to-disconnect barrel.
